Jawline Sculpting is a dermal filler treatment used to combat a number of potential concerns where shape, definition or volume have been lost through the effects of ageing, rapid weight changes or may lack naturally as part of anatomic and genetic predisposition.

By using a high-density hyaluronic acid dermal filler that can mimic the appearance of bone-like structure, results will enhance your own bone shape for the most natural look tailored to you – be it to build and construct a more pronounced jaw by adding volume and definition, or to soften more angular silhouettes to balance out facial proportions and create symmetry to the face.

Popular with both men and women, Jawline Sculpting is often combined with Chin Filler treatments when addressing profile-balancing or with PDO Threads and Profhilo as part of our Facial Contouring Packages to reform and restore. A thorough consultation with your SAS Aesthetics doctor will uncover which treatment combinations may be best suited to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid. This is a natural substance which is normally found in the skin and other parts of the body such as the eyes. Hyaluronic acid is a gel substance that absorbs water very strongly and can therefore be injected into the skin to add volume and smooth out deeper lines.

How long does it take to work?

The results of Jawline Sculpting appear immediately however due to the initial swelling the true result will show fully 2 weeks after the initial injection.

Are there different types of Dermal Fillers?

Yes, there are different types of thickness of dermal fillers. Each one is used in a different way and targets a different part of the face. We use a medium thickness filler for lips and under eye to create a smooth result whilst avoiding the formation of lumps and bumps. In parts of the face requiring more structure a thicker dermal filler is used.

How long do fillers last?

The longevity of dermal fillers depends on the area injected and the type of filler used. A rough estimate for lips is 3-6 months although it lasts longer up to 18 months in those who have had multiple treatments. In the face, dermal fillers often last between 9-12 months initially and up to 2 years after multiple treatments.

Is the treatment painful?

All dermal filler treatments are done after the application of local anaesthetic cream which remains in place for 10-20 minutes depending on your pain tolerance. This will result in a relatively painless procedure.

What are common side effects?

Dermal fillers / hyaluronic acid injections are a natural occurring substance and are therefore one of the safest injections with minor side effects such as swelling and bruising. However more serious complications such as blockage of veins/ arteries can arise if the injector is poorly qualified. This is why it’s important to choose your aesthetics doctor with care.

What should I avoid before and after the treatment?

We often discourage consumption of alcohol 12 hours before and after your treatment. Smoking should be avoided 6 hours before and after your treatment. Both these factors affect the likelihood of you bruising. Other things to avoid are hot showers, saunas as well as exercise. for 24 hours and avoid sunbathing or sunbeds for up to 7 days.

Does my skin become saggy after the filler is absorbed?

No, over time as the dermal filler is absorbed by the body, your skin will naturally lay down collagen through the healing process which will make your skin stronger and less prone to sagging and wrinkles.

Are there any contra-indications?

Yes, the absolute contra-indications are pregnancy, breast feeding. Relative contra-indications are the use of blood thinning medications (please discuss this with your doctor during your consultation).
