Chin Filler treatments work to remodel the lower part of the face, creating balance between the upper two thirds of the face and also to harmonise the facial profile in proportion with the nose, lips and forehead.

Using a high-density hyaluronic acid dermal filler, we can deliver a number of small injections to place product carefully in specific areas to treat common concerns associated with the chin, such as; adding volume and definition to project and pronounce a ‘weak’ or recessed chin; softening a pointed or more angular chin; or subtly lengthening the chin to elongate the face for a more symmetrical and proportioned appearance.

In addition to dermal filler sculpting, Botulium Toxin A injections can be used to smooth irregularities like dimples or creases and create a smoother appearance of the chin area.

Chin Filler can also be used in conjunction with Jawline Sculpting treatments to treat some cases where jowls have formed as a result of the ageing process for a more defined look, and are often paired with Nose Augmentation treatments to achieve overall profile balance. Your SAS Aesthetics doctor will work with you to carefully assess your chin and surrounding treatment area to discover the most suitable combination of treatments for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid. This is a natural substance which is normally found in the skin and other parts of the body such as the eyes. Hyaluronic acid is a gel substance that absorbs water very strongly and can therefore be injected into the skin to add volume and smooth out deeper lines.

How long does Chin Sculpting take to work?

The results appear immediately however due to the initial swelling the true result will show fully 2 weeks after the initial injection.

Are there different types of dermal fillers?

Yes, there are different types of thickness of dermal fillers. Each one is used in a different way and targets a different part of the face. We use a medium thickness filler for lips and under eye to create a smooth result whilst avoiding the formation of lumps and bumps. In parts of the face requiring more structure a thicker dermal filler is used.

How long do fillers last?

The longevity of dermal fillers depends on the area injected and the type of filler used. A rough estimate for lips is 3-6 months although it lasts longer up to 18 months in those who have had multiple treatments. In the face, dermal fillers often last between 9-12 months initially and up to 2 years after multiple treatments.

Is the treatment painful?

All dermal filler treatments are done after the application of local anaesthetic cream which remains in place for 10-20 minutes depending on your pain tolerance. This will result in a relatively painless procedure.

What are the side effects?

Dermal fillers / hyaluronic acid injections are a natural occurring substance and are therefore one of the safest injections with minor side effects such as swelling and bruising. However more serious complications such as blockage of veins/ artery can arise if the injector is poorly qualified. This is why it’s important to choose your aesthetics doctor with care.

What should I avoid before and after the treatment?

We often discourage consumption of alcohol 12 hours before and after your treatment. Smoking should be avoided 6 hours before and after your treatment. Both these factors affect the likelihood of you bruising. Other things to avoid are hot showers, saunas as well as exercise. for 24 hours and avoid sunbathing or sunbeds for up to 7 days.

Does my skin become saggy after the filler is absorbed?

No, over time as the dermal filler is absorbed by the body, your skin will naturally lay down collagen through the healing process which will make your skin stronger and less prone to sagging and wrinkles.

Are there any contra-indications?

Yes, the absolute contra-indications are pregnancy, breast feeding. Relative contra-indications are the use of blood thinning medications (please discuss this with your doctor during your consultation).

What’s the minimum age for dermal fillers?

18 years.

Do you offer any Dermal filler packages?

Yes, we do – please refer to our contour page for details.
