Cheek Enhancement is a treatment used to achieve fullness and a fresh and healthy look in the mid to upper areas of the face. Using a high-velocity hyaluronic acid filler that is of a denser consistency to that more commonly used in popular treatments such as lip enhancement, we can create contour, definition and volume in order to restore balance and structure that is often lost with age.

Suitable in treating the presence of a hollow or gaunt look to the cheeks, as well as reducing the appearance of deep nasolabial folds, your SAS Aesthetics doctor will work with your natural features and anatomical knowledge to determine the perfect placement of dermal filler to tactfully address your concerns.

Delivered using either needle or cannula techniques, we can mimic the impression of cheekbones to create structure or prominence; place subtle volume at the front of the cheeks for a youthful look; and form balance to compliment the contours of the face and give the illusion of a slimmer appearance in harmony with the jawline.

Cheek Enhancement is both a buildable and versatile treatment that can achieve long-lasting, collective results in reviving facial proportions and is often used in conjunction with a number of dermal filler and/or PDO Thread treatments as part of our overall Facial – Contouring Packages.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Dermal Fillers for Cheek Volumisation?

Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid. This is a natural substance which is normally found in the skin and other parts of the body such as the eyes. Hyaluronic acid is a gel substance that absorbs water very strongly and can therefore be injected into the skin to add volume and smooth out deeper lines.

How long does Cheek Volumisation take to work?

The results appear immediately however due to the initial swelling the true result will show fully 2 weeks after the initial injection.

Are there different types of Dermal Fillers?

Yes, there are different types of thickness of dermal fillers. Each one is used in a different way and targets a different part of the face. We use a medium thickness filler for lips and under eye to create a smooth result whilst avoiding the formation of lumps and bumps. In parts of the face requiring more structure a thicker dermal filler is used.

How long do fillers last?

The longevity of dermal fillers depends on the area injected and the type of filler used. A rough estimate for lips is 3-6 months although it lasts longer up to 18 months in those who have had multiple treatments. In the face, dermal fillers often last between 9-12 months initially and up to 2 years after multiple treatments.

Is the Cheek Volumisation painful?

All dermal filler treatments are done after the application of local anaesthetic cream which remains in place for 10-20 minutes depending on your pain tolerance. This will result in a relatively painless procedure.

What are common side effects?

Dermal fillers / hyaluronic acid injections are a natural occurring substance and are therefore one of the safest injections with minor side effects such as swelling and bruising. However more serious complications such as blockage of veins/ arteries can arise in extremely rare circumstances.

What should I avoid before and after the treatment?

We often discourage consumption of alcohol 12 hours before and after your treatment. Smoking should be avoided 6 hours before and after your treatment. Both these factors affect the likelihood of you bruising. Other things to avoid are hot showers, saunas as well as exercise. for 24 hours and avoid sunbathing or sunbeds for up to 7 days.

Does my skin become saggy after the filler is absorbed?

No, over time as the dermal filler is absorbed by the body, your skin will naturally lay down collagen through the healing process which will make your skin stronger and less prone to sagging and wrinkles.

Are there any contra-indications?

Yes, the absolute contra-indications are pregnancy, breast feeding. Relative contra-indications are the use of blood thinning medications (please discuss this with your doctor during your consultation).

What is the minimum age for dermal fillers?

18 years old.

What makes Cheek Volumisation different from other filler treatments?

Cheek Volumisation specifically targets the mid to upper areas of the face, aiming to restore lost volume and provide a youthful lift. It uses a denser consistency of filler designed for deep placement to support and lift the overlying tissue.

How often will I need maintenance treatments for continued results?

While results can last between 6-12 months, maintenance treatments are typically recommended every 9-12 months to ensure continued volume and contour.

Is there a risk of asymmetry post-treatment?

Our trained professionals ensure balanced injections to maintain facial harmony. However, minor asymmetry might occur due to swelling but usually resolves within a week. If concerns persist, its important to communicate with your practitioner.

Can I combine Cheek Volumisation with other aesthetic treatments?

Yes, Cheek Volumisation can be combined with other dermal filler treatments, PDO Thread treatments, and more. Its often part of broader facial contouring packages offered by SAS Aesthetics.

What happens if I decide to discontinue treatments in the future?

If you decide not to continue with maintenance treatments, the fillers will gradually be absorbed by the body, and your cheeks will return to their natural state over time.

Is there any risk of allergic reaction to the filler?

Allergic reactions are rare since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body. However, its crucial to inform your practitioner about any known allergies during your consultation.

What should I do if I notice lumps or irregularities post-treatment?

Minor lumps can occur immediately after the treatment due to swelling. Gentle massage can help smoothen these out. If you notice persistent lumps or irregularities after a week, you should contact your practitioner for a follow-up.

Is there a maximum age limit for Cheek Volumisation treatments?

Theres no strict upper age limit. However, the suitability of the treatment depends on individual skin conditions, health status, and aesthetic goals.

How will the treatment affect facial expressions?

Cheek Volumisation aims to restore volume and structure without impacting your natural facial movements. You should still be able to smile, frown, and express emotions as usual.

Are there any dietary restrictions post-treatment?

There are no specific dietary restrictions. However, its advised to stay hydrated and avoid excessive salt intake, which can exacerbate swelling.
